Michael Johnson is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Davidson men’s soccer program.
"We are excited to add Michael to our team and we welcome he and his family to the area,” said head coach Matt Spear. “He has tons of passion for the game, but more importantly for teaching. His one on one mentoring will be a positive impact on our players' development."
Born in Jamaica, Johnson is the President of Majic Premier Soccer Club, which he founded in 2007. In addition to managing the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the premier club, his primary responsibilities include providing technical, tactical, as well as speed and agility training.
He recently moved to the Davidson area from Hamden, Connecticut and coaches with the Carolina Rapids Soccer Club.
Johnson has a Bachelor’s degree from Delaware State and Master’s from the University of Bridgeport.
He and his wife Tracey reside in Huntersville with their three children - Twins Son Michael Johnson Jr. (12), Daughter Ashlei Johnson (12) and Daughter Jordyn Johnson (3).
