Jason Strange
- Title:
- Assistant Coach/Goalkeepers
Jason Strange enters his fourth season as an assistant / goalkeeper coach for the Davidson men’s soccer team.
In his first year in 2014, Jason was vital to develop each of the Davidson goalkeepers, highlighted by Matt Pacifici breaking the program’s single-season goals against average (.65) and earning A-10 All Conference and All Region Honors.
Then in 2015, Jason continued to elevate all four Wildcat netminders, culminating with Pacifici signing with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer.
“I am really excited about Jason’s growing impact and increasing roles. He’s embraced our players with his passion – and they know he truly cares about them,” commented Coach Matt Spear,
“As a National Champion, he has lived and breathed NCAA Soccer from the very top of the mountain. What’s special is Jason’s excellent ability to communicate, and his desire to motivate and teach.”
A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, Strange was a goalkeeper on the Tar Heels’ 2001 national championship team.
“I would like to thank Matt for the opportunity to join the Davidson men's soccer staff,” said Strange. “I am excited to be part of a collegiate program like Davidson that strives to be the best both academically and athletically. I look forward to working with the goalkeepers and helping them to prepare for a great season as Davidson strives in the Atlantic 10 Conference and ACC opponents.”
Coach Strange holds a USSF B license as well as a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
In addition to previously serving as an assistant coach at both Greensboro College and Catawba College, Strange has extensive club soccer experience, including with the Lake Norman Soccer Club, where he serves as the Director of Goalkeepers.
