Dathan Zabel joined the Davidson College Sports Medicine staff in August 2014. His primary sport responsibilities are with the Wildcat football team, men's tennis, and men's swimming and diving teams.
Zabel comes to Davidson after spending four years as an assistant athletic trainer at Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. During his time at Hobart & William Smith Colleges he coordinated and directed the medical care for the Hobart football team, and the Hobart and William Smith basketball teams, while lending support to all other HWS athletic programs.
Originally from Harrington, Del., he graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. He then went on to pursue his graduate degree in Exercise Science at Oregon State University. While pursuing his master's degree, he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years at Western Oregon. During his time there he worked directly with the Wolves football program and assisted with all other sports. He was also a preceptor for Oregon State athletic training students.
Zabel is a board certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and the North Carolina Athletic Trainer's Association.
