Tommy Piacenza joins the coaching staff in 2012 after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2011.
A 2010 graduate from Davidson, Piacenza appeared in 135 games and made 129 starts as a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats. He was a team co-captain as a senior and was named to the All-Academic SoCon Team in 2008 and 2010. He was also a co-winner of the team's Rookie of the Year award in 2007.
After graduating from Davidson with a degree in sociology, Piacenza worked as an advance scouting and video trainee with the Washington Nationals for the remainder of 2010. He was responsible for charting minor league games and working on scouting reports, and also conducting on research projects for both the Major League and Minor League baseball operations staffs.
Piacenza has also coached at baseball camps at Davidson, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
