Bio
The Book on Gassie: Gassie uses her quickness to blend with an up-tempo style that Davidson runs. She brings a physical and mentally-tough presence to the point guard spot, and will be counted on to fill some of the offensive scoring.
2007-08 Highlights:
•Started career-high eight games during junior campaign.
•Set season-high with 14 points off the bench in the Wildcats' biggest win of the season over UNC Greensboro on Feb. 15.
•Provided Wildcats with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-3 from downtown, off the bench and set a season-high with five steals in assisting Davidson in a come-from-behind win at Appalachian State on Feb. 9.
•Had one of her best all-around games of the season in a 12-point win at home against Wofford on Jan. 26. Netted a season-high five three throws (5-of-5) and added three more buckets from the field, including a three-ball for 12 points, and added four rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes of play.
•Dished out a season-best and tied career-high with four assists against Appalachian State on Jan. 12.
•In first two starts of the season, combined for six points, eight rebounds and three assists in wins over UNC Asheville and Georgia State at the Carolina First Classic.
2006-07 Highlights:
•Davidson's main sixth person off the bench, Gassie was one of four players to play in all 32 games and scored in 31 of the 32 last season.
•Hauled in season-best five rebounds to go along with six points off the bench for the Wildcats at High Point on Nov. 29.
•Paced ‘Cats to an 88-40 win on Dec. 2 vs. Emory with a season-best 15 points (7-of-11), while helping tie a school record for steals in a game with a career-best six.
•Pocketed at least three or more steals six times last season.
•Dropped in 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, plus two free throws in 16 minutes of action at Western Carolina on Jan. 6.
•Broke out of a five-game scoring slump in which he scored only a combined 13 points with a team-best and season-high tying 15 points in the lead the Davidson bench to a 23-15 advantage over Chattanooga on Feb. 5.
2005-06 Highlights:
•Became the second straight Wildcat to be named to the all-freshman team.
•Finished the season scoring in double-figures in seven of the last 10 games, including a game-high 16 against UNCG in the semifinals of the SoCon Tourney.
•In first career start on Feb. 14, the freshman registered 11 points with a team-high six rebounds, and had three assists and a personal-best four steals in the Wildcats’ 60-47 win on Feb. 14.
•Set a new season-high with 19 points on a personal-best 8-of-17 shooting with a season-best four assists in Davidson’s 71-67 win at College of Charleston on Jan. 30.
•Scored a game-high 17 points and matched a season-high at the free throw line by making 8-of-10 in leading Davidson to an 81-72 overtime win at Wofford on Jan. 21.
•Earned her first career block in the Wildcats’ season opener at North Carolina on Nov. 18.
High School Notes:
•Was a four-year starter at Wilson Central High School under head coach Bud Brandon while averaging 16.3 ppg and 6.2 rpg as a Lady Wildcat.
•Named to the all-district team twice and earned all-region as well as honorable mention all-state accolades as a junior.
•A member of the 1,000 point club, was named best offensive player at Wilson Central in back-to-back years and got the nod for best defensive player as a freshman.
•A well-rounded athlete, Gassie helped her high school golf team place first in the district and second in the region.
•Was also a nominee for the 2004 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
•On the academic front, Gassie was a three-year member of the National Honor Society.
