
Wildcats Claim Season Opening Win Against Lenoir-Rhyne

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson opened the 2026 spring season with a 4-3 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday evening from inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (1-0) picked up the narrow victory, beginning with a doubles team point courtesy of Charlie Ratliff and Davide Procacci in the No. 2 spot and Nikhil Mukherjee and Kai Villagomez in the No. 3 spot.
Davidson carried its momentum into singles play, winning three of the first four matches. Goyo Hidalgo opened singles with a tiebreak win in the No. 1 position. Villagomez claimed his first spring collegiate straight set win in the No. 3 spot.
Senior captain Sebastian Carpio Moran sealed the dual match win for the Wildcats fighting back to win a three-setter 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in the fourth position.
The victory marks the second consecutive spring season where the Wildcats took down Lenoir-Rhyne in their opening match.
