
'Cats Beat Spiders 65-63, Blums Records First Collegiate Double Double

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Roberts Blums recorded his first career double with 18 points and 13 points as Davidson hung on for a 65-63 victory over Richmond in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday evening from inside John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, who finished with 18 second-chance points thanks to a commanding 45-30 advantage on the glass, improve to 16-10 overall and 7-6 in league play.
Trailing 49-46 with 10 minutes to play, Parker Friedrichsen sparked an 11-3 Davidson run with a 3-pointer. Blums added seven points during the spurt pushing the Wildcats back in front for good.
Josh Scovens and Friedrichsen also added double figures for the 'Cats with 11 and 10, respectively.
Davidson, which led 35-24 at the break, grabbed control early with a 23-7 run eventually stretching its lead to 34-18 with 2:08 left in first half.
After shooting just 27.6 percent in the opening 20 minutes, the Spiders drilled five straight triples to start the second half igniting a 19-6 streak to retake the lead, 43-41.
Aiden Argabright paced Richmond (14-13, 4-10 A-10) with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 28 minutes off the bench.
Both teams shot 40 percent for the contest.
