'Cats Picked Third; Three Scholar-Athletes Named A-10 Preseason All-Conference

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the 2026 A-10 preseason rankings, the league office announced Friday. This is Davidson's highest preseason ranking since joining the A-10. Richmond was projected as the preseason favorite while Saint Joseph's was selected second.
"This is a new year with a new team and I know this squad is ready to show what they are capable of," said head coach Kim Wayne. "A third-place preseason ranking is a great place to be right now, but I know this team is excited to do more and play for more. Right now it's just one game at a time and our focus is on us and Wofford."
Entering the 2026 campaign, the Wildcats have posted five straight 10-win seasons. Davidson finished in third place during the regular season last year.
In addition to the announcement of the 2026 A-10 preseason polls, Davidson's Kayla Joyce (GK), Jenna Skibbe (A), and Allie Hartnett (MF) were featured on the all-conference preseason list.
"I'm excited for Kayla, Allie and Jenna to be recognized by the coaches in our conference for the season they had last year," said head coach Kim Wayne. "All three are deserving of this nod and I can't wait to see them perform this year."
Joyce is the reigning A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year and led the league last season in goals against average (9.10). Skibbe ranked third in the A-10 with 59 goals last season and was also a 2025 all-conference first team selection. Hartnett was named an all-conference first team selection for the third straight season in 2025.
Davidson opens the 2026 regular season at home on Saturday, February 7 at 5 p.m. against Wofford.
