Wildcats Fall in Windy City to Loyola Chicago

CHICAGO – Sheldon Edwards Jr. hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists to lead Loyola Chicago past Davidson, 82-72, Wednesday evening inside Gentile Arena.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 16-14 overall and 6-11 in league play, while the Ramblers have won eight of their last 10 improving to 20-10 and 11-6.
Despite the loss, Reed Bailey led four Davidson players in double figures with 19 points to go along with six rebounds and seven assists.
Bobby Durkin had 13, while Roberts Blums and Connor Kochera added 12 each for the Wildcats, who shot just 35.5 percent after intermission.
Kymany Houinsou and Jayden Dawson also hit the 10-point plateau for Loyola Chicago with 19 and 17, respectively.
The Ramblers stormed out of the gates connecting on their first eight shots, including five 3-pointers, four from Edwards Jr., to lead 21-6. Davidson would later respond with 14 unanswered and go back in front 35-34 on a Kochera layup before the two teams went to the half tied 37-all.
Loyola, which finished shooting 50 percent and drilled 13 treys, used a 20-4 run midway through the second half to push the margin 67-48.
