Davis and Stewart Lead Wildcats at Sea Palms

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Behind rounds of 67 and 68 from Will Davis (-4) and Joshua Stewart (-3), respectively, the Davidson men's golf team sits second after day one of The Peoples Championship hosted by Western Carolina University.
The three-day / 54-hole event is being played on the Par-71, 6,664-yard Sea Palms Resort layout.
Davis and Stewart, who finished tied for second a year ago, will enter tomorrow's second round inside the Top-10.
The Wildcats (277 | -7), who entered the event as the two-time defending champs, are nine back of UNCG, which opened with a 16-under 268.
Jake Lewis (-8) and Kelvin Hernandez (-6) are currently 1-2 on the individual leaderboard to pace the Spartans.
Davis Sayman and Jackson Bode carded even par rounds of 71 for the 'Cats, while Nate Faulkner posted a 77.
Competing as an individual, Will Tharin also recorded a sub-par round for Davidson with a 70.
Belmont, Charleston Southern, Drexel, Florida A&M, Francis Marion, Long Island, Marshall, Mount St. Mary's, Murray State, Richmond, Siena, Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin, Villanova, Winthrop, Wright State, and Xavier are also in the record 20-team field.
