Donovan and ‘Cats Secure First Double Bye in A-10 Tournament

DAVIDSON – Katie Donavan scored a game-high 24 points and for the first time since joining the league in 2014, Davidson has secured a double bye in next week's Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament with a 64-52 win over Fordham on Senior Day inside John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats conclude the regular season winning eight of their last nine to improve to 18-12 and program-best 13-5 in A-10 play.
A sophomore from Queensland, Australia, Donovan drilled four triples and finished 8-of-10 at the line in 38 minutes of action. She was joined in double figures by Charlise Dunn, who recorded 12 points to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Davidson, which canned 10 treys on the afternoon, outscored the Rams 18-7 in the opening quarter and never relinquished the lead.
After Fordham (15-14, 9-9 A-10) evened the score 48-48, the Wildcats responded with a Donovan 3-pointer sparking a 14-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Taylor Donaldson led the way for the Rams with 17 points, while Irene Murua added 16 and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats forced 23 miscues turning them into 22 points at the other end.
Prior to the contest, Davidson honored its 2024-25 senior class – Tomisin Adenupe, Mallorie Haines, Issy Morgan and Millie Prior.

Davidson will begin conference tournament play Friday, March 7. The tournament bracket with seedings, matchups and game times will be released later this weekend.
