CONWAY, S.C. - The Davidson men's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on the road against Coastal Carolina and UNC Asheville over the weekend.Â
The losses move the Wildcats' overall record to 5-3 on the year while remaining 1-0 in Atlantic 10 action.Â
The Chanticleers swept the 'Cats 7-0 on Friday afternoon before Davidson played UNC Asheville to a narrow 4-3 loss on Saturday.Â
Uddayvir Singh was the closest Davidson player to taking a match against Coastal Carolina over the weekend. The senior fought back for a 6-3 second-set victory after falling 6-2 in the opening bout. However, Juan Cruz Collardin barely edged Singh in a final set tiebreak 7-6(10-7) to take the point in the No. spot.Â
Against the Bulldogs, Nico Pinzon and Gregorio Hidalgo teamed up in the No. 1 position to earn a 6-3 win before UNC Asheville took the doubles team point, claiming the matches on courts two and three.Â
Hidalgo continued his winning ways into singles action with a three-set triumph on court three (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) extending an impressive rookie campaign. Fellow freshman Davide Procacci also picked up a win via three-sets in the No. 2 spot (6-3, 4-6, 7-5).Â
The Bulldogs kept the edge taking victories on courts four and five before the 'Cats had a chance to even the playing field with Nikhil Mukherjee earning a 7-5, 6-1 court six win. Despite a hard-fought match, UNC Asheville came out victorious taking its final point on court one.Â
