DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite No. 32 Tanner Peake closing the dual with a major decision at 165 pounds, Davidson dropped its home opener to nationally-ranked Purdue, 38-4, Sunday afternoon inside John M. Belk Arena.
A senior from Flemington, N.J., Peake started fast and scored a take down just before the buzzer to defeat Adrian Pellot, 12-2.
At 285 pounds, Davidson's DJ Spring II also put together a strong showing against No. 32 Hayden Fillipovich, but was edged 2-1.
Prior to the match, Head Coach Nate Carr Jr's younger brother, David, a two-time National Champion at Iowa State, along with the Wildcats' coaching staff, hosted a FREE clinic for close to 150 local wrestlers.

Davidson will travel to Raleigh Dec. 7 for duals with Rutgers and Morgan State.
