Smith Wins 200 Fly on Final Day at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Fletcher Smith swam to a win in the 200 butterfly to lead the Davidson Wildcats Sunday on the third and final day of the seven-team Bucknell Invitational.
Smith, who also had the top time in morning prelims, swam to first with a time of 1:46.98 and became the third Wildcat to notch a win in the championship-style weekend event.
The Davidson men and women each finished fifth in the team scores, with 778 and 661 points, respectively.
Smith had familiar company near the front in the 200 fly, as Robby Votta placed third with a time of 1:48.72.
The men's 400 medley relay of Dylan Felt, Matthew Shnowske, Smith and Mitch McClain took fifth (2:58.89), and the Wildcats had two in the top eight in the 1,650 free. Felt placed sixth in the distance event (15:30.16), with Henry Shoemaker touching eighth (15:33.83).
Ann Thompson had the top finish for the Davidson women Sunday, taking fifth in the 200 back (2:00.20).
Liliana Schone also reached the A finals and took eighth in the 200 breast (2:20.56).
Other event wins for Davidson this weekend came from Elle Jacobsen (3M diving) on Friday and Felt (200 free) on Saturday.
