
'Cats Set for Shriners Children's Charleston Classic

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson embarks on the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic this weekend in Charleston, S.C. The Wildcats take on Boston College this Friday, Nov. 21 at 3:30 p.m. inside TD Arena.
The 'Cats make their fifth appearance in the event, which ties Clemson playing in the Palmetto bracket, for the most by any school. This is the 10th straight season that Davidson will compete in an MTE (multi-team event).
Davidson's last appearance in the Charleston Classic was during the 2022-23 season. The Wildcats beat South Carolina, but lost to College of Charleston and Old Dominion. When the Wildcats participated in this event back in 2018, Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored a career-high 33 points in a win against Wichita State.
SERIES HISTORY
Davidson and Boston College meet for the second time ever. The first meeting took place in 1970. The Wildcats faced Tulane only twice before and both matchups were in the 1960s. Davidson and Utah State have never faced off.
STRONG START
Davidson is seeking its first 5-0 start to a season since the 2015-16 campaign.
LAST TIME OUT
Davidson beat Bowling Green 91-87 last Saturday inside Belk Arena. The Wildcats shot 54.2 percent from the floor and 47.8 percent from downtown (11-for-23).
Sam Brown, Parker Friedrichsen, and Nick Coval combined for 51 of the team's 91 points. Ian Platteeuw made his college debut with Davidson. The freshman stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and two steals in 20 minutes.
The 'Cats fought off a late 19-6 run from the Falcons in the final two minutes of regulation.
BLOCK PARTY
Sean Logan leads the Atlantic 10 with 3.7 blocks per game. In three contests, Logan has 11 total blocks. Logan currently has 98 career blocks, which is tied for seventh in program history.
The senior recorded five blocks against Washington State on Nov. 7. That was the fifth time in his career with at least five rejections in a game.
COVAL IS COOKING
Nick Coval earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for strong performances against Charlotte and Bowling Green. The redshirt freshman averaged 15.5 points per game and shot 64 percent from the floor those two games.
Coval leads the team in total minutes (103) and is 18-for-18 from the free throw line.
