‘Cats Remain Unbeaten, Hold off Late Bowling Green Charge

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson's backcourt of Sam Brown (18), Nick Coval (17) and Parker Friedrichsen (16) combined for 51 points and the Wildcats held off a late Bowling Green charge to defeat the Falcons, 91-87, Saturday night inside Belk Arena.
With Davidson (4-0) comfortably ahead, 85-66, with 2:14 remaining, Bowling Green (3-1) turned up the pressure and went on a 19-1 streak over next minute and 45 seconds to make it a one-point game with 31 ticks left.
In addition to Davidson's guards, Ian Platteeuw stuffed the stat sheet with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in his first collegiate contest.
After Bowling Green used a 17-5 run to go in front for the first time, 34-33, the 'Cats closed the first 20 minutes with four straight triples including a 35-footer from Sam Brown as time expired to take a 45-38 lead into the half.
Davidson carried its momentum into the second half pushing the margin to as many as 21 with 9:36 to play.
Bowling Green also placed three in double figures led by Josiah Shackelford and Javontae Campbell's 23 and 21 points, respectively.
The two teams combined to shoot 73 free throws.
For the third time in four games, the Wildcats shot above 50 percent from the floor finishing at 54.2 percent, including an 11-of-23 effort from deep.
