1ST AND 10
- Davidson enters its week seven contest 1-4 overall and 0-1 in Pioneer Football League action.
- The Wildcats are coming off a 35-32 setback at Stetson to open conference play.
- Despite the loss, senior wide receiver Ivan Hoyt finished with a career-high eight catches for 155 yards and three touchdowns against the Hatters.
- In addition, his three touchdown receptions were the most by a Wildcat in a game since William Morris in 2014.
- 103 of his receiving yards came after the catch.
- Davidson forced a season-high three turnovers against Stetson, including interceptions by linebackers Robert Lamar and Hunter Brooks.
- Dating back to 2018, Davidson has a 35-19 PFL mark, while capturing two regular season crowns and making three FCS Playoff appearances.
- Four of Davidson's opponents this season have appeared in the FCS Top-25 or received votes.
- Since joining the Pioneer Football League (2001), Davidson is 1-4 against teams ranked in the FCS Top-25. The lone win came against then-No. 25 San Diego in 2021.
- St. Thomas, which joined the PFL in 2021, and Davidson have met just twice on the gridiron.
- The two teams haven't met since the 2022 season.
- They split the previous meetings, with each team taking care of home field.
- Davidson continues its stretch of eight straight PFL games to conclude the season when the 'Cats travel to Des Moines next weekend to take on Drake.
- Despite a career-high 155 yards receiving and three touchdowns from Ivan Hoyt, Davidson dropped its league opener at Stetson, 35-32, Oct. 4 from Spec Martin Stadium.
- Stetson, which had a pair of 100-yard rushers, finished the day with 384 yards on the ground, averaging 8.0 yards per carry.
- Chris Stephenson (135) and Cayden Betts (124) combined for 259 of the Hatters' rushing yards.
- After a scoreless third quarter, the Wildcats retook the lead following another forced turnover, this time a pass breakup by Christian Lyons that ended up in the hands of Hunter Brooks.
- On the ensuing possession, Coulter Cleland connected with Hoyt for 59 yards to give Davidson a 24-21 advantage with 9:09 to play.
- Stetson responded with 14 unanswered points late in the fourth to all but put the game out of reach.
- Hoyt, who had eight grabs and 103 yards after the catch on the afternoon, added a 58-yard touchdown grab with 39 seconds to play, giving him a league-best seven on the season.
- In a first half that featured six lead changes, Stetson rushed for 174 yards while carrying a 21-17 lead into the break.
- Capping the game's opening drive with a 38-yard Christos Tzoumakas field goal, Davidson later went back in front with a 1-yard run from Mason Sheron and a 13-yard touchdown reception from Hoyt.
- Robert Lamar's second interception against the Hatters in as many years set up Sheron's score.
- Tre Johnson and Hudson Altenburg led a Davidson defense that forced three turnovers with 11 tackles each.
