DAVIDSON - The Davidson men's tennis team earned its first two wins of the 2025 season hosting Lenoir-Rhyne for a doubleheader match Saturday.

The Wildcats (2-0) picked up its first win of the day via 6-1 defeat in the 9 a.m. match before playing to a narrow 4-3 triumph to close out the action packed day.

"The seniors did an incredible job leading the way today," said head coach Drew Barrett. "Their composure under pressure and confidence was evident through both matches. Freshmen Davide Procacci and Gregorio Hidalgo played awesome today and had a great start to their college careers."

In match one, the 'Cats took the doubles team point with identical 6-4 wins on courts one and two courtesy of Uddayvir Singh and Davide Procacci in the No. 1 spot and Nico Pinzon and Gregorio Hidalgo in the No. 2 spot.

The Wildcats upheld their momentum in singles competition, with four two-set victories and one tiebreak win. Singh edged his competitor 7-5 in set one before cruising to a 6-0 second set win on court one. Hidalgo claimed matching 6-1 victories in both his sets in the No. 2 position while Procacci had an almost identical 6-1, 6-2 win on court three.

Sophomore Charlie Ratliff claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win out of spot No. 6 while Pinzon fought back to a 6-3 second set win after falling 7-6 in the first to ultimately take the match vie 10-5 tiebreak on court five.

In the second half of the day, Lenoir-Rhyne was the winner of the doubles competition after sailing away with 6-0 victories on courts two and three.

Davidson quickly struck back during singles action with Hidalgo taking his second solo win of the day (6-1, 6-1) on court four and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora earning his first singles win of the season (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 1 spot. The Bears took a 6-4, 6-4 win on court two to even the score before Davidson added another team point from a 6-1, 6-2 Procacci triumph in the No. 3 position.

With court four heading to a third set, the Wildcats would get a fourth point from Luca Lovrich on court six in a 6-3, 6-2 win, completing an undefeated day for Davidson.
