Current and Former Wildcats Advance to Final Qualifying Round of U.S. Amateur

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In addition to former Davidson standouts Brian Garrett '23 and Alex Heffner '24, rising sophomore Davis Sayman also advanced through the first round of U.S. Amateur Qualifying held Monday at Finley Golf Course.
Both Garrett and Heffner carded rounds of two-under 68, while Sayman signed for a 69 to grab one of the last of 14 spots from the local qualifier.
The three will now compete at one of 19 18-hole final qualifying sites to fill out the 312-person U.S. Amateur field. The Final Qualifying rounds will occur from July 17 to August, spanning 19 sites across 15 states.
Garrett, who helped the Wildcats to three straight Atlantic 10 Championships, qualified for the 2021 U.S. Amateur at historic Oakmont Country Club.
The 124th U.S. Amateur Championship will take place Aug. 12-18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.
