WASHINGTON — Davidson's Annica Valmassei, Ian Brann and Guil Ware have been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team, the league announced Thursday.
The honor is the first for Valmassei and Ware and the third for Brann.
"I'm thrilled that the Atlantic 10 has recognized these Wildcats," said Davidson head coach John Young. "Being a scholar-athlete at Davidson is hard. I appreciate that our swimmers and divers continue to accomplish at a high level, and I'm proud of Annica, Guil and Ian for being leaders for our team and among their A-10 peers. This is well-deserved!"
Valmassei, a junior chemistry major, earned A-10 silver in both diving events at the league championships in February. She posted a score of 261.45 in the 1-meter event and a score of 297.45 in the 3-meter, taking her career A-10 medal count to three.
Brann, a senior chemistry major, was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that placed fourth at the A-10 Championships with a school-record time of 1:20.10. He was also a consolation finalist in the 50 free.
A junior economics major, Ware was an A finalist in two events at the A-10 Championships, placing seventh in the 100 free (44.59) and eighth in the 50 free (20.47). He joined Brann on the fourth-place 200 free relay team, and he also helped the 400 free relay team place sixth and set a Davidson mark (2:57.23).
