'Cats Fall 4-1 To Queens

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson men's tennis team was defeated 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon by Queens University of Charlotte on the Davidson Tennis Courts.
"It was a hard fought match today,' said head coach Drew Barrett. "Doubles ended up being the decider. We had our chances to turn the match in our favor, but ended a little short. Queens was just a little steadier than we were and that is what decided it."
The Royals cinched the doubles point early despite Alejandro Solares and Udday Singh picking up a 6-3 win on court one.
From there, Queens won two of the next four singles matches to extend their lead to 3-0 before Sebastian Carpio Moran notched the first team point for the Wildcats. Moran, in the No. 4 spot, dropped the first set 6-3 before storming back for a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the remaining two bouts.
However, the Royals would go on to clinch the match with their third singles victory of the day, leaving Solares on court three and Jerry Wang on court five with unfinished matches.
Davidson will prepare for a full weekend of matches when the first welcome the College of Charleston to the Davidson Tennis Courts 1 p.m. April 6.
