DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sophomore Savanna Kollock battled back for a three-match win to clinch the team point and propel the Davidson women's tennis team to a 6-1 win over Rhode Island Saturday.
The win improves Davidson to 11-6 overall and 3-3 in Atlantic 10 competition.
"The team competed well today and it showed mentally," said head coach Susanne Depka. "I am proud of how they turned it around after yesterday's match. We have a few non-conference matches left to finish the regular season and I hope they will put in the extra work so they are confident and ready for the A-10 conference tournament."
Daniela Porges and Kavya Patel picked back up in their winning ways in the No. 1 doubles spot for the 'Cats with a 6-1 victory. The Rams took the win on court three via 6-2 triumph, leaving the duo of Emma Heiderscheit and Savanna Kollock on at No. 2.
The senior and sophomore pair were able to secure the doubles point in a 6-3 win for the Wildcats, to take an early 1-0 lead.
Freshman Bryson Langford cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court five while fellow rookie Charlotte Calderwood followed suit in an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win of her own on court six to extend the 'Cats advantage to 3-0.

After dropping the first set 6-1, Kollock held her ground to take the second 6-3 in order to push a third on court four. The Scottsdale, Arizona native persevered through the final set on the way to a 6-2 win that clinched the match for the Wildcats.

Porges and her Rhode Island opponent battled to a 7-6(5) first set in Porges' favor before the junior sealed the deal in a 6-4 second set.
