DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 match on the road at East Carolina University Saturday.
"We had many chances today against a good team," said head coach Susanne Depka. "There are a few things I believe we need to clean up in order to pull those matches out. I do believe we are getting better mentally and staying in the present which has helped us continue to compete well. We will need to put in a bit of extra work these last few weeks so we are sharp and confident going into the last matches and the Atlantic 10 Tournament."
The Pirates took the doubles point winning on courts three and one respectively, leaving a tight 5-5 match on court two involving the duo of Emma Heiderscheit and Savanna Kollock unfinished.
East Carolina extended its lead to 3-0 shortly after taking a 6-2, 6-3 win on court six followed by a 6-4, 6-3 triumph in the No. 4 spot.
The Wildcats looked to surge through the first sets on courts one, two and three, winning 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3 by Daniela Porges, Kavya Patel and Heiderscheit respectively.
The battle continued as a third set was forced on the top three courts. Heidersheit was ahead on court three while Bryson Langford on five fought back to force a third her self. However, ECU's No. 2 position player was able to pull out a three-bout win on the way to clinching the match for the Pirates.
