SNOW HILL, N.C. – Davidson's Will Davis signed for a 2-under 70 to climb into a tie for 10th after two rounds of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University.
The three-day / 54-hole event is being played on the 7,147-yard, Par 72 Cutter Creek Golf Club layout.
Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 7:51 a.m. off the 1st and 10th holes.
Unlike most tournaments, each team has six competitors in their respective lineup with the top four scores counting towards the team total.
Davis, who opened with a 73 yesterday, bounced back with four birdies and just two dropped shots Saturday to move 12 spots up the 100-player leaderboard.
Alex Heffner (+4 / T-36), Davis Sayman (+4 / T-136), Price Miller (+7 / T-55), Joshua Stewart (+9 / T-70) and Benjamin Newfield (+9 / T-70) are also in the Davidson lineup this weekend.
In search of their eighth Top-5 finish in nine events, the Wildcats (296-290 = 586 | +10) are just 11 shots out of third place.
The host Pirates (-16) maintained their overnight lead following a 12-under 276. Elon (-12) is four back of ECU, while Old Dominion (-1), Campbell (E) and Charleston Southern (+2) round out the Top-5.
ECU's Lucas Augustsson (-8) fired a 64 to grab the individual lead by one stroke over Jack Wieler (-7) of Elon.
