Berquist Impresses in First Outdoor 5K; Marshall Records Season-Best in 100M

RALEIGH, N.C. – Competing in the 5K for the first time, Davidson's Anne Berquist finished 16th out of 130 competitors to highlight day one of competition for the women's track and field team at the Raleigh Relays Friday.
The three-day annual event hosted by NC State is taking place at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility. Competition will resume Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
A junior from Barrington, Ill. / Charlotte, N.C., Berquist finished the event with a time of 16:42.57. Teammate Frances Whitworth also ran the 5,000 meters for the Wildcats, recording a 16:57.95.
Sprinter Kierra Marshall also turned in an impressive showing with a season-best 12.18 in the 100 meters.
Davidson's outdoor season features seven straight weekends of competition in preparation for the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships, which will take place May 4-5 in Fairfax, Va.
