WILMINGTON, N.C. – Battling through cold and windy conditions, the Davidson men's golf team was in sixth place when the second round of the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate was suspended due to darkness.
The two-day / 54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 7,030-yard Country Club of Landfall Nicklaus layout.
The second round will resume tomorrow morning followed by the final 18.
The Wildcats (+25), one of just two teams to complete 36 holes Sunday, shared the lead with No. 2 Auburn after the opening round before signing for a 301 in the afternoon.
Coming off two straight runner-up finishes over spring break, Joshua Stewart (T-7 / +1) continued his impressive play and leads Davidson on the individual leaderboard.
When play was halted, the nationally-ranked Tigers held the top spot on the 16-team leaderboard by six shots over Stetson. Just 13 shots separate the Hatters from 10th place Virginia Tech (+30).
Alex Heffner (T-18 / +5) was also inside the Top-20 when the horn sounded with rounds of 73 and 76. Benjamin Newfield (+8), Will Davis (+11) and Price Miller (+23) are also in the Wildcat lineup.
Second-round scores will not be finalized until all scorecards have been signed.
