COLUMBIA, S.C. – In just her third collegiate event, Davidson's Sola Omonije picked up her second career win as the senior finished first in the high jump on day one of the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina.
The two-day event, which will resume Saturday morning at 10 a.m., is taking place at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track.

Omonije, a two-sport athlete (volleyball) for the Wildcats, was the lone competitor out of 22 entries to clear 1.67 m (5-05.75), which is the exact height that won her USC's indoor competition a month ago.
For the second straight weekend to begin the outdoor campaign, Isabella Godoy (800 meters) and Anne Berquist (1500 meters) set new personal records in their respective events.
Godoy placed second with a time of 2:13.23, while Berquist recorded a 4:36.01 to come home fourth.
In addition, Molly Sullivan put together an impressive showing in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, finishing runner-up with a personal-best of 11:23.25.
Davidson's outdoor season will feature seven straight weekends of competition in preparation for the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships, which will take place May 4-5 in Fairfax, Va.
