
Davidson's Omonije Wins First-Ever Collegiate Event

COLUMBIA, S.C. – In Davidson's final tune-up before next weekend's conference championships, senior Sola Omonije won the high jump in her first-ever collegiate event, Saturday at the USC Indoor Open hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Omonije, who joined the Wildcats' track and field team in January after an all-conference season on the volleyball court, was successful on her third attempt at 1.67m (5-05.75) to capture the title.
Senior Megan Burkholder led four Davidson pole vaulters with a jump of 3.66m (12-00.00) to finish just inside the Top-10. Teammates Grace Zagoria (3.56m / 11-08.00) and Summer Laskey (3.26m / 10-08.25) set personal records in the event.

Davidson will head to Virginia Beach, Va., next weekend to compete in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 23-24.
