
Carpio Moran and Wang Highlight Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson men's tennis team rounded out the final day of its annual fall tournament Sunday after competing against Gardner-Webb, Longwood, UNC Greensboro and Queens all weekend.
"Our guys put in some great effort this weekend" said head coach Drew Barrett. "Both Jerry and Sebastian won their draws and I was very impressed with how hard they battled to do so. It's great to see all of their hard work paid off."
Sebastian Carpio Moran and Jerry Wang highlighted the Wildcats in singles competition over the weekend.
Carpio Moran opened singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over UNCG opponent Christopher Johns before defeating Jonas Grasmuck of Gardner-Webb 4-6, 6-4,10-1. Carpio Moran secured his final victory by way of 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 win over Bulldog Jurie Terblanche.
Wang garnered his draw win after a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Lukas Gosselin of Queens followed by a 6-2, 6-4 match against Hampus Johansson of UNCG. Wang tallied his final win of the draw over Bulldog Johannes Van Wijk by way of 4-6, 7-6, 11-9 win.
Doubles competition for the 'Cats saw the pairing of Alejandro Solares and Udday Singh win back-to-back matches including a 6-3 win over Gardner-Webb and 6-4 win over Queens before falling 7-5 in the final match.

The Wildcats will return to competition in one month when they compete at the ITA Regionals from Oct. 20-24 at Duke University.
