Rapid Offense Leads to 3-0 Win Over Revolutionaries

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's soccer team scored three goals in the first twelve minutes to take down George Washington in Atlantic 10 play on Saturday afternoon. Luke Bryant, Alonzo Clarke, and Nico Quanbeck each netted goals in the victory.
Coming off of their first loss last Wednesday, the Wildcats wasted no time going on the offensive in today's contest. Just under three minutes in, Vincent Bennage sent a shot on frame which was saved initially, but the rebound was loose inside the eighteen. Luke Bryant corralled the ball on the right side of the box and rifled a shot through the keeper and just over the goal line for the first score of the game.
Davidson kept the pedal to the metal and scored two and a half minutes later. In the sixth minute, the Wildcats had a shot hit off the post, and Ayman Maadir was able to redirect the rebound over to midfielder Alonzo Clarke. Clark leaped into the air and headed the ball over the goalkeeper for his third goal of the season.
Six minutes later, Davidson was on the attack once again. This time defenseman, Nicholas Cavallo sprinted down the far side of the field and sent in a cross towards the box. Denis Krioutchenkov acted as if he was going to settle the cross, but instead let it through to Nico Quanbeck. The freshman midfielder beat the keeper for his first collegiate goal of his career to give the 'Cats a commanding 3-0 lead.
That was plenty of insurance for the remainder of the game as Davidson's defense kept the shutout intact for the remaining 78 minutes. Goalkeeper Lou Liedtka made five saves and earned his fifth shutout victory of the year.
