Garcia-Guerrios Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Davidson volleyball freshman Elena Garcia-Guerrios was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Garcia-Guerrios' honor is the first of her young career, and she's the third 'Cat this season to earn conference recognition after Bella Brady's Defensive Player of the Week nod (Sept. 5) and Mia Compas' Rookie of the Week honor (Sept. 11).
The six-rotation outside hitter shared the weekly honor with Dayton's Alayna Yates, who led the Flyers to a 3-0 weekend.
The rookie swung .358 during Davidson's final non-conference weekend, as the Wildcats went 1-1 with a 3-1 win over App State and a 3-2 loss to Wake Forest. Garcia-Guerrios recorded 30 kills during the stretch, notching two-straight double-doubles with 14 kills and 17 digs against the Mountaineers, and 16 kills and 18 digs against the Demon Deacons.
Additionally, she served six aces and passed .951 on serve receive.
Garcia-Guerrios and the Wildcats will return to action on Saturday.
