‘Cats Bounce Back with Strong Second Round, Climb into Contention

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After opening its fall slate with a 289, Davidson bounced back with a 4-under 276 in the afternoon to climb into third place after day one of the 2023 River Run Collegiate.
The host Wildcats will enter Tuesday's final round 13 strokes back of East Carolina and seven behind Radford. A year ago, Davidson rallied from 11 swings down to win its annual event.
Joshua Stewart (-5), who is three off the individual lead, which is held by ECU's Carter Busse (-8), paced Davidson with rounds of 67 and 68. Teammate Will Davis (69-70 = 139/-1) was just as steady and also sits inside the Top-10.
Another bright spot for the 'Cats in round two was freshman Will Tharin's four-under 66. Alex Heffner (146 | T-40) and Jackson Bode (155 | T-76) are also in the Davidson starting lineup, while Davis Sayman (143 | T-26), Benjamin Newfield (148 | T-51) and Adam Lauer (150 | T-64) are competing as individuals.
Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start.
