
Davis Wins 2023 Jacksonville Amateur

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Will Davis of the Davidson golf team, fired a final-round 67 to rally from five strokes back and capture the 2023 Jacksonville Amateur Championship Saturday afternoon at San Jose Country Club.
A rising junior from Jacksonville, Fla., Davis finished the 54-hole event at 14-under 202 (66-69-67) to win by five shots.
The lone golfer in the 82-player field to record three straight rounds in the 60s, Davis finished the 62nd annual event with 15 birdies, two eagles and just five dropped shots.
As a sophomore, Davis played in 10 tournaments recording a 72.17 stroke average and pair of Top-5 showings. In addition, he signed for 14 rounds of par or better, including a career-low and then-tournament-record 8-under 64 at the Sea Palms Invite.
Davidson will open the 2023-24 season as host of the River Run Collegiate Sept. 11-12.
