Depth Elevates Davidson in A-10 Quarterfinals

RICHMOND, Va. – Davidson lacrosse relied on its depth in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon, as nine different Wildcats appeared in the scoring column during a 15-5 rout of George Washington.
Davidson's senior class captured its 38th win with the result, becoming the winningest class in program history, and the Wildcats will now move on to the Atlantic 10 semifinals on Friday, May 5 at 12 p.m. to take on top-seeded UMass.
George Washington jumped out to a 2-0 start on the 'Cats, before Erin Cooke fed Allie Hartnett with a behind-the-back pass to get Davidson on the board. From there, the Wildcats scored four-straight and carried a 5-3 lead after the first quarter with goals from Grace Fahey, Riley Cochrane, Adrienne Leone and Cooke.
After a slower second quarter that saw the 'Cats pull away 7-4 at halftime, Davidson burst into an 8-1 scoring run over the final 30 minutes of play to cruise to the 10-point victory. The Colonials scored the first goal of the second half, five minutes into the third, before Fahey found Cooke for her second goal of the day that ignited Davidson's 8-0 run to close out the contest.
Caroline Moran, Sophia Passalaqua, Riley Moore and Julianne Carey also produced goals for the 'Cats, while Carey won seven draw controls and set a new program record for single-season draw controls (111).
Cooke ended the day with a game-high eight points (2G, 6A) and Carey and Fahey each recorded a hat trick. The Wildcats finished with nine assists on 15 goals, and netminder Amanda Monahan made 12 saves.
