NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson swimmers Shelby Stanley and Ian Brann have been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
It's the third honor for Stanley, a senior from Roanoke, Va., and the second for Brann, a junior from Sarasota, Fla.
A psychology major and two-time A-10 Most Outstanding Performer, Stanley completed her stellar career by earning four medals at the A-10 Championships in February, taking her medal count to 21.
At A-10s this year, she earned silver in both the 100 fly (53.86) and 200 fly (1:59.47) and took bronze in the 200 IM (2:00.27). Stanley also joined Chale Jacks, Martha Tripsa and Abby Francis on the 400 free relay team, which took bronze (3:22.61), and she swam on three other top-6 relays, including the fifth-place 200 medley team.
A chemistry major, Brann placed fifth in the A-10's 50 free event (20.35) and swam on two fourth-place relays, joining Dylan Felt, Guil Ware and Ben McClain on the 200 and 400 free relay teams. Brann was also an A finalist in the 100 free (7th, 44.83) and reached the B final of the 100 back.
In addition to Stanley and Brann, Davidson graduate Siena Senn '22, who competed in her fifth year at George Washington, secured a place on the All-Academic Team for the fourth year.
To be selected to the A-10 All-Academic teams, athletes must be at least a sophomore, carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be a significant contributor.
