Heffner T-11th, Round 2 of Seahawk Intercollegiate Suspended

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Davidson's Alex Heffner opened with a four-under 68 and was tied for 11th when the second round of the 2023 UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate was suspended Sunday evening.

The 54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 7,031-yard Country Club of Landfall Dye Course layout.

Due to a severe thunderstorm halting play midway through the opening round, the 92-competitor field was unable to complete the second round, which will resume tomorrow morning.

As a team, the Wildcats signed for a 289 (+1) in round one and was just 10 strokes outside the Top-5 when the second was stopped due to darkness.

Will Davis (+1), Joshua Stewart (+3), Brian Garrett (+3) and Ethan Hall (+15) are also competing for Davidson, which is coming off its second win of the 2022-23 campaign.

Ranked 27th in the most recent GolfStat poll, TCU (-19) leads the 17-team field by two strokes over Stetson. The Hatters' Matt Gauntlett holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard at 9-under.
