DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson lacrosse cruised to its sixth victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, while starting off Atlantic 10 play 1-0, after a 19-7 rout of the Duquesne Dukes.
The Wildcats owned the draw circle 21-7, while Julianne Carey won 10 draws and scored four goals. Davidson also out-shot the Dukes 37-17 as senior captain Grace Fahey had a career-high day, scoring nine points off five goals and four assists. Fahey's five goals moves her to 101 career goals and her nine points marks the second-highest points scored in a single game in program history. Six other 'Cats appeared in the scoring column, including rookie Shayna Brodman who recorded the first goal of her career in the second quarter of play.
Fahey scored two-straight goals within the first minute of the contest to set the tone for Davidson's A-10 opener. Davidson led 5-1 after the first quarter and shut out the Dukes 8-0 in the second period, capped off by a Josie Lambert goal to end the half up 13-1.
Duquesne held off the 'Cats with a 3-2 third period to reach just its fourth goal of the day and trail Davidson 15-4 with one quarter to go.
In the final stanza, the Wildcats saw production from Fahey, Carey and Molly Murphy to ultimately hold off the Dukes with the 12-goal victory and Davidson's third win of the season by 10 or more goals.
