Darkness Suspends Day One of Golf’s Spring Opener

MOBILE, Ala. – Playing in their 2023 Spring Opener, the Davidson golf team was four-under as a team on the afternoon when the second round of The Hal Williams Collegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama was halted due to darkness.
The two-day/54-hole event, which features three nationally ranked teams, is being played on the Par 71, 7,168-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings layout.
After opening with a six-over 290, the Wildcats totaled 18 birdies in round two before play was suspended at 5:30 p.m. local time.
Alex Heffner and Will Davis both sit at even par, while seniors Ethan Hall and Brian Garrett are just two back. Both Heffner and Hall were three-under on their second 18 when the horn sounded.
Joshua Stewart (+4) is also in the Davidson starting lineup.
No. 5 Illinois leads the 15-team field by two strokes over Arkansas.
Texas State's Kasper Nyland holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard at 10-under par.

Tomorrow's third and final round will begin immediately following the completion of round two.
