Wildcats Roll By Redhawks for Fourth Straight Win

DAVIDSON — Davidson scored a season-high 48 points in the paint, including 34 in the first half, en route to a 79-61 win over Miami (Ohio) Saturday afternoon in Belk Arena.
It's the fourth straight win for the Wildcats, who improved to 7-3.
Most of the Wildcats' production came from its starting lineup, as guard Grant Huffman and forward Reed Bailey each had 19 points and seven boards to lead the way. David Skogman had 17 points and Connor Kochera added 11, while Angelo Brizzi scored all six of his points during a 10-0 first-half run when the Wildcats pulled away 19-6. They led by double-digits the rest of the way.
Davidson's lead peaked at 63-35 with 10:48 to play after Kochera hit back-to-back 3-pointers.
Working primarily in the post, Skogman scored nine straight points as the Wildcats pushed their lead to 36-14 late in the first half.
The Wildcats started the second half on a 10-1 run, keyed by Huffman, who scored seven of the points and assisted on a Bailey 3-pointer.
Bailey did much of his damage at the foul line, hitting all 12 of his free throws, as Davidson finished 14-of-14 at the stripe.
Davidson won the rebounding battle 42-23, with Skogman and Kochera adding six apiece.
Ryan Mabrey and Darweshi Hunter led Miami (4-5) with 15 and 14 points, respectively. The Redhawks, who never led and missed their first seven shots, were held to 37 percent shooting and 32 percent from 3-point range.
