'Cats Host Ball State Friday, Then Visit Lock Haven

The Davidson field hockey team will conclude its four-game homestand and a stretch of six of seven at Belk Turf Field when it hosts non-conference foe Ball State Friday night.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Wildcats are 4-8 overall after most recently falling 2-0 to Wake Forest last Sunday. After facing Ball State, Davidson will visit Atlantic 10 foe Lock Haven on Sunday. Â

Abby Pompeo continues to lead the Wildcats and rank among the A-10 leaders (tied-2nd) with seven goals.

The Ball State Cardinals enter 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the MAC, and they feature the MAC's top scorer in Fleur Knopert. She's tied for 10th nationally with 11 goals and had three-goal games against Central Michigan and Lindenwood.

Goalkeeper Hannah Johnston leads the MAC with a .774 saves percentage and 7.20 saves per game.

The Cardinals had won five straight until falling 4-2 to Kent State last weekend.

Last year, the Wildcats topped Ball State 4-1.
