Wildcats Push #18 Dayton in 3-0 Loss

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson volleyball pressed #18 Dayton on Friday night, but the Flyers prevailed to a 3-0 Atlantic 10 victory.
With the result, the Wildcats move to 4-4 in league play, while Dayton improves to 8-0. The Flyers have won 45 of their last 48 sets, including the last 23 straight.
Isabel Decker paced the offense with 12 kills, while Jackie Bardin contributed three kills on five swings in just one set of play. Bella Brady collected 10 digs, while Kayla Davis and Sola Omonije combined for six block assists and one solo stuff.
The Flyers swung .421 in set one, striking with 18 kills and just two errors to win it 25-18.
Davidson found its footing in set two, jumping out to a 3-1 lead thanks to a monstrous block from Davis and Decker, before tying things up at 6-all after an ace from Brady. As Dayton advanced, a kill from Decker kept the 'Cats within one, 13-12, but the Flyers went on a 5-1 run to pull ahead 18-13 and eventually win the set 25-20.
The Wildcats gained momentum again in set three, this time jumping out to a 3-0 lead thanks to an ace from Jordan Hummel and two of Omonije's blocks. Davidson maintained its three-point lead through 16-13, with the help of timely hitting from Anna Withee, but the Flyers bounced back and tied the set at 19-all. From there, Dayton closed out with four of the last five points to clinch the match, 25-23.
