DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Isabel Decker's (11 kills, 10 digs) double-double kept the Wildcats within reach of #18 Dayton on Saturday afternoon, despite the Flyers ultimately defeating Davidson 3-0.
Bella Brady added another 10 digs to the weekend, averaging 3.33 pickups per set across the two-match stretch, while Sola Omonije swung .500 and Emma Slusser hit .350 while combining for 12 kills and six block assists.
Dayton, which has won 48 of its last 51 sets, swung .406 at the net and stopped any Wildcat threat with four blocks apiece over the final two sets of play.
Quality play from Slusser helped the 'Cats jump out to a 3-0, red-hot start inside Belk Arena, as the 'Cats eventually stretched it to a 10-5 advantage in set one. After a kill from Jackie Bardin and a Dayton timeout, Davidson produced back-to-back blocks and a kill from Anna Withee that pushed the Wildcat lead to its largest of the day at 13-5.
After a 9-3 run from the Flyers, which saw Dayton close in within two of the 'Cats at 16-14, Decker aced the defense and put Davidson back in front by four, 19-15. From there however, Dayton produced a 10-3 run to win the first
set 25-22 and regain momentum for the remainder of the match.
Overall, Davidson hit .235 as a team and served four aces.
