Women's Track & Field Begins Indoor Campaign at the Carolina Challenge

Day One Results

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Davidson women's track team began their 2023 indoor campaign on the first day of the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina on Friday.

Davidson two top-five finishes in the mile as Mary Shoop and Abigail Nasse crossed the line in fourth and fifth place respectively. Shoop, a freshman from Fletcher, North Carolina finished in 5:11.58 while Nasse was close behind after posting a 5:13.51.

Senior Hannah Kanjian turned in a pair of top-ten performances on Friday as well. The Jupiter, Florida native finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.31 meters then ran a 9.24 in the 60-meter hurdles which tied her second-best career indoor time.

Also finishing inside the top-ten was Kierra Marshall in the 200-meters. Marshall ran a time of 25.24 for her third-best indoor mark in the event.

The women's track and field squad will conclude the weekend tomorrow with field event finals beginning at 10:00 a.m. and track event finals starting at 1:00 p.m.
