WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Coming off a Top-5 finish in his last outing, Davidson's Alex Heffner continued his impressive play Monday as the Wildcat junior sits tied for 15th after 36 holes of the 2022 Old Town Collegiate hosted by Wake Forest.
The two-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 70, 6,966-yard Old Town Club layout.
Heffner, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, opened with a one-over 71 before carding a bogey-free three-under 67 in his second round. The Harrisburg, N.C. native is eight-under over his last three rounds dating back to the River Run Collegiate, which the Wildcats rallied from 11 back to win.
Joshua Stewart (141 | +1), who finished tied for 11th in his first collegiate tournament last week, also fired a 67 on his second 18 this afternoon. Will Davis (149 | T-54th), Ethan Hall (150 | 58th) and Jackson Bode (155 | 62nd) are also in the Davidson starting lineup.
Kansas State (-16) holds the top spot on the 12-team leaderboard by five shots over Southern Miss, while Will Morlan (Furman) and Cameron Clarke (Southern Miss) lead the 63-player field at 131 (-9)
Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 7:30 a.m.
