Wildcats Begin Atlantic 10 Play Friday, Welcome Duquesne

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- After a 6-5 start to the non-conference season, the Davidson volleyball team is ready to turn the page and set its sights on the Atlantic 10 Championship.
The Wildcats will begin league play on Friday night and Saturday, hosting the Duquesne Dukes for a doubleheader in Belk Arena. Friday night will begin at 7 p.m. and Saturday's match will start at 4 p.m.

Non-Conference Highlights...
Davidson began the season 2-1 with an impressive ACC victory over Virginia Tech, before turning around and going 2-1 at its very own Wildcat Classic. For the final weekend of the non-conference season, the 'Cats met regional foes Wake Forest and Charlotte, as Davidson downed the 49ers 3-1 in their own Halton Arena. Outside hitter Isabel Decker leads the 'Cats with 104 kills, while rookie Emma Slusser has 99 and leads the team in attacking percentage at .364. Setters Xuan Nguyen and Jessie Doyal pace the Davidson offense, combining for 10.0 assists per set, while Anela Davis holds a 1.33 blocks per set average. Â
In the Bag...
The Wildcats lead the league in four categories so far this season, with 11.82 assists per set, 2.54 blocks per set, 15.08 digs per set and 35.82 attacks per set. Nationally, the Wildcats rank as high as 35th in blocks per set and 55th in attacks per set. This season, Davidson has also captured three weekly honors from the conference, with Bella Brady & Anela Davis earning Defensive Player of the Week nods and Emma Slusser taking home her first Rookie of the Week honor.Â
Brady's World...
Junior libero Bella Brady ranks 33rd in the nation and second in the A-10 with a 4.82 digs per set average. The Florida native also leads the 'Cats with 188 digs this season, bringing her career total to 946, while ranking 78th nationally in total digs.
Against the Dukes...
Davidson and the Dukes have a rich, recent history, as the two teams split the regular season series last year, both winning a match 3-1. While meeting in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2021, Duquesne won 3-0, before falling 3-2 to eventual champs Dayton in the semifinals.
