Magee Named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Freshman TJ Magee was named the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the conference Sunday. This is the first weekly award for the 'Cats and the first career accolade for Magee.

The Denham Springs, La. native had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter of the 'Cats 37-17 victory over Barton on Saturday. He finished the day with 145 yards on three kick returns, leading the Wildcats in all-purpose yardage. The 97-yard return is one of just four kick returns of 97-plus yards in the FCS this season. Magee returned the opening kickoff 18 yards, then posted the 97-yard return and capped his day on special teams with a 30-yard return on Barton's fourth, and final, kickoff. In his regular defensive role, he also had a tackle and a fourth-quarter interception to help seal the Wildcats' home victory.
