‘Cats Drop Season Opener on Late Goal at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Tony Pineda scored the game's only goal in the 87th minute to lift High Point over Davidson, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday evening at Vert Stadium.
Pineda's game-winner was assisted by Jefferson Amaya.
Wisconsin natives and fellow forwards Vincent Bennage and Denis Krioutchenkov paced the Wildcats with two shots each.
Senior goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo finished with a game-high six saves for Davidson, which was opening its season on the road for the first time since 2011.

Davidson will travel to East Tennessee State Sunday for a 4 p.m. start before opening its home slate Thursday, Sept. 1 against Campbell at 4:30 p.m.
