KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Defending champion Davidson is just two strokes off the lead following the opening round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship.
The three-day/54-hole event is being played on the 7,186-yard, Par 72 Reunion Golf Club Nicklaus layout in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Wildcats, who have won two of the last three league titles, fired a two-under 286 Friday, thanks to sub-par rounds from junior Ethan Hall (-1/T-4) and sophomore Alex Heffner (-1/T-4).
Clayton Tribus and Will Davis also sit inside the Top-10 after signing for even par scores, while senior Viraj Garewal is one back in a tie for 20th.
VCU (-4) holds the top spot on the team leaderboard by a shot over Rhode Island (-3). The Wildcats were the only other team to shoot under par on day one.
Kristian Tannum Donaldson (VCU) carded a five-under 67 and will enter tomorrow's second round with a two-shot advantage over Fordham's Peter O'Rourke, who shot 69.
On Saturday, Davidson will be paired with VCU and Rhode Island in the second round with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. off the first tee.
Live scoring will be available each day on GolfStat.com.
In six Atlantic 10 Championship appearances, the Wildcats have captured two titles (2018, 2021), a runner-up and third place showing, while recording an average finish of 3.6.
