DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson Wildcats fell 4-3 to UMass on Saturday afternoon in Charleston, S.C. in a close fought match. The 'Cats fall to 8-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
"Wow, today was a serious battle," head coach Susanne Depka said. "We gave everything we had and fought like crazy. We did all we could and just came up short. I continue to be extremely proud of this group for being so mentally and physically tough. I truly believe that these matches only make us better and prepare us more for each match.
"I look forward to tomorrow as we conclude our spring break trip with another A-10 opponent, Dayton."
Wins on the doubles court from Josie Schaffer and Kavya Patel along with Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea gave Davidson the doubles point, but UMass edged the 'Cats in singles points. Schaffer and Patel earned two points on the singles courts for the 'Cats but it wasn't enough.
