Fulks Announces Four Signees to Davidson Women's Basketball
12/2/2022
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team will welcome three newcomers next season, and one next semster, as head coach Gayle Fulks announced the program's 2023 signing class Friday.
The Wildcats' incoming class includes 6-foot wing Sylvie Jackson, 5-8 point guard Chloe Oliver, 6-3 wing Eliza Buerk and 5-11 wing Katie Donovan.
Jackson, Oliver and Buerk will join the 'Cats next fall, while Donovan, an Australian native, will come to Exit 30 beginning next semester.
We're as excited as can be about this class," Fulks said. "We truly believe we're getting a great group of women who want to be at Davidson for the right reasons. These young women are winners on and off the court, and I'm thrilled to see the impacts they each have on our program."
SYLVIE JACKSON
Wing | 6-0 | Zion Crossroads, Virginia | Louisa County High School
Jackson was the first commit in Fulks' 2023 signing class, as the Virginia native has been a three-year captain at Louisa County and led her 2020 squad to a state championship. She comes to Davidson as a three-time All-District and All-Region selection, while earning First Team All-State honors in 2020 and 2021 and being named District Player of the Year in 2021. After averaging 18 points per game in her junior season, Jackson eclipsed the 1,000-point mark last week.
Fulks on Jackson:
“Sylvie was our first commit in the 2023 class and set the standard for the impact this class will make on our program, with her high motor and commitment to being an elite teammate. Early in the process, our entire staff agreed that Sylvie’s skill set and athleticism would fit seamlessly into the #ShareShootStifle system and that as a person, she was someone we wanted to be around every day.”

CHLOE OLIVER
Point Guard | 5-8 | Saint-Hubert, Québec, Canada | Cegep Champlain
Oliver will join the Wildcats as one of two international signees, after earning First Team All-Star and All-Canadian CCAA All-Star honors prior to her Davidson tenure. The Québec native led Champlain to its first Provincial Championship in March 2022, where she dropped 14 points and four assists as the Cavaliers earned a top seed at the 2022 CCAA nationals.
Fulks on Oliver:
“Finding a point guard that can play at jet-like speed, while still under control, but continually finds her teammates for open shots is no easy task. So, when we realized in the evaluation process that Chloe had that ability, we went after her hard. Her high motor and ability to be a vocal leader at the point guard position allowed us to see the immediate impact her skill set will have in our system, both as a scorer and an elite finder.”
Our latest signee comes to Exit 30 from up north, native to Saint Hubert, Quebec ????

ELIZA BUERK
Wing | 6-3 | Happy Valley, Oregon | Clackamas High School
When Buerk's high school career ends at Clackamas, she will have been a four-year letterwinner and three-year varsity captain. The 6-3 wing has earned First Team and Honorable Mention All-League honors from the Mount Hood Conference, while leading her team to back-to-back conference championships in 2020 & 2021 and a third-place finish at the state championship in 2021.
Fulks on Buerk:
“We're excited about Eliza because she is someone who will play the stretch-4 type of position for us, which we believe is an awesome position for a player with her size and skill set to have the freedom to play in. The #ShareShootStifle system is very similar to the basketball principles that Eliza currently plays with on her high school and club teams, which provides an opportunity for her to have an impact right away in our program.”
This evening we welcome @elizabuerk as the latest signee to join our Wildcat family!

KATIE DONOVAN
Wing | 5-11 | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia | Southport State High School
Donovan, who has had an illustrious high school career, will join the Wildcats at the end of the fall semester after graduating from Southport State in 2022. Set to be Davidson's fifth Australian on the roster entering the new year, Donovan helped lead Queensland South to a silver medal at the 2022 Australian National Championships while averaging 11.4 points per game and shooting 51.8 percent from the field last season in the NBL1. A team captain at Southport State during her final season, she was named to the Queensland-South State Team and set the record for highest individual scorer in a CBSQ (Championship Basketball Schools Queensland) finals game with 53 points.
Fulks on Donovan:
“Katie is an extremely talented player from the Australian recruiting pipeline. She has proven to be an extremely efficient offensive player, and bringing her into our Wildcat family will add another elite shooter and decision-maker to the program. With her high motor, Katie will also be an extremely versatile defender for us and rebounder at the guard spot. Katie is committed to being an incredible teammate and someone we believe will impact our program for years to come.”
Another Aussie on board!
